STEERING COMMITTEE 2009
Our steering committee is comprised of volunteer rural and farm women from across Manitoba and a few Rural Leadership Specialists from Manitoba Agriculture, Food and Rural Initiatives. The 2009 members are:
NINA EDBOM KEHLER our dynamic and capable CONFERENCE CHAIR grew up on a mixed cattle and grain farm. She, her husband Randy and children Aliya & Gilby presently reside just east of Altona on a small acreage big enough for their handsome Golden retrievers and too many cats. *
VAL SISSONS farms with her husband, Grant in a family farming operation at Portage la Prairie. They are pedigreed seed growers and they have a seed cleaning operation. Val has attended all but 2 of the conferences in various capacities on the committee. *
JODI McGILL , along with her husband and family, live on a hobby farm in the Interlake near Inwood. They raise chickens and bison and enjoy the country living. *
LESLEY BAROTT is from Fraserwood. She, along with her husband Pat have had a large sheep grazing operation. They have farmed in both Alberta and Manitoba. *
CHRIS LESLIE farms with her husband, Dwayne on the family farm in Poplar Point, where they grow oats, barley, soybeans & sunflowers. When not farming Dwayne & Chris also operate many websites including www.prairielinks.com and www.farmauctionguide.com , *
CINDY MCKAY and her husband Ken, and four children ranch in the Hodgson area. Cindy is also a writer and publisher. Hearts of the Country is her newest enterprise. *

ANITA ANSEEUW grew up in the Brandon area and currently farms together with her husband in Oak Bluff. They have been farming grains and oilseeds for over 25 years.
BARB EDBOM is a volunteer extraordinaire who resides on a mixed cattle and grain farm in Piney with husband Dale, loveable dog, Sierra and cantankerous cat Scootie. They came to the tiny hamlet about 32 years ago and have enjoyed their many years of farming.
COLLEEN AMMETER lives and farms near Dufresne with her husband Bill and two sons, Matthew and Jonathan.
FLORENCE PETRASH farms with her husband Pete near Sundown. They raise registered red and black Angus on the family farm; along with a few pigs and chickens.
JUSTINA HOP lives in Tolstoi. She and her husband Beerd and two of their three children are in a dairy farm partnership. They also run a 100 head beef herd and are partners in a hog barn. Justina is a member of the Woodmore Women's Institute and president elect of the Manitoba Women's Institute.
BEV WINNICKY resides in Piney on a beef ranch, with husband Donald and three sons. They have also operated a dairy. Bev works off the farm and volunteers in the community.
ROSE KLIPPENSTEIN lives in Niverville with her husband Dan. Together they manage a number of hog farms in Manitoba .
MARY TOEWS with her husband Stan live and farm near New Bothwell. Together, with their oldest son, they farm hogs, layers, grain, canola, and soybeans.
MAREN MUELLER immigrated to Manitoba from Germany with her husband Karl-Heinz and daughter Kim in 1991. They enjoy farming a mixed grain and cattle operation with their three girls in Arnaud, which is located 30 minutes north of the Emerson boarder.
JILL FALLOON, JAYNE KJALDGAARD and VIVIAN GIESBRECHT have helped us immeasurably thanks to MANITOBA AGRICULTURE FOOD AND RURAL INITIATIVES.
